S.F. Symphony celebrates Shostakovich's birth (San Jose Mercury News)
Mozart's birthday may be getting most of the attention, but 2006 also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dmitri Shostakovich. The San Francisco Symphony is celebrating the great composer this week with an all-Shostakovich program led by legendary cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich.
